One-to-one Healthspan Coaching
Feel better now and protect your health for the future with personalised, evidence-based support.
As your coach, my role is to help you identify and implement changes that can positively affect your health, improving how you feel in the short term while setting you up for a better long-term healthspan.
You may already have a particular concern, such as your weight, blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, energy, sleep or stress. Or perhaps you’re generally well and want to remain healthy, strong, and independent for as long as possible.
Wherever you are starting from, we’ll look at the whole picture, decide what matters most and develop a realistic way forward.
Change that sticks!
You’re probably already aware of many things you “should” be doing for your health. Although coaching will often include an element of explanation, the real challenge for most of us isn’t knowing what to do—it’s actually doing it consistently.
Long-term health is shaped by the things we repeatedly do over time. These don’t need to be dramatic changes. Small, well-chosen actions can gradually become habits that make healthy living feel easier and more natural.
This is where I believe coaching can bring the most value: helping you decide what to prioritise, turn good intentions into practical action and find ways to keep going when life inevitably gets in the way.
Personalised to you and your life
There is no single approach to healthy living that works for everyone.
The approach best suited to a working parent may be quite different from the one that works for a retiree, an entrepreneur, a perimenopausal woman or someone living with a persistent health condition.
We’ll bring together:
- Your current health, lifestyle and relevant risk factors
- The practical realities of your work, family and relationships
- Your preferences, strengths and previous experiences
- How you would like to feel and function in the future
We can then decide where to start, which changes are most likely to help and how to make them workable within your everyday life.
What can healthspan coaching help with?
Health is interconnected, so healthspan coaching may cover several areas rather than focusing on just one. Depending on your priorities, we might work on:
- Healthy body weight management
- Prediabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic health
- Blood pressure, cholesterol, and cardiovascular risk
- Food quality, nutrition, and eating habits
- Movement, fitness, muscle strength, and healthy ageing
- Sleep, stress, and emotional wellbeing
- Building sustainable habits and maintaining motivation
- Living better with persistent symptoms or a long-term condition
We won’t try to change everything at once. We’ll identify the areas likely to make the greatest difference and build from there.
How one-to-one coaching works
1. Understand where you are now
We’ll begin by discussing your health, lifestyle, concerns and what you would like to achieve. Where relevant, we can also consider information such as blood-test results, blood pressure, body composition, family history, and medical advice you have already received.
2. Choose your priorities
Together, we’ll identify the changes most likely to move you towards your goals. You’ll remain in control of what you choose to work on and the pace at which you proceed.
3. Turn the plan into action
We’ll translate your priorities into practical steps that fit your life. At subsequent sessions, we’ll review what happened, learn from what did or didn’t work, and adjust the approach accordingly.
4. Build confidence and independence
The aim isn’t for you to rely on a coach indefinitely. It is to help you understand your health, develop skills that work for you and become increasingly confident in managing your health for the long term.
What to expect
Coaching sessions are typically online, and although I don't use a regular venue, I'm very happy to meet face-to-face if we're nearby (West Berkshire). An initial session is usually an hour, and follow-up sessions are usually 45 minutes, with 30-minute and 60-minute options available as appropriate.
We’ll agree on the frequency according to need, but it's common to meet more frequently initially, say weekly for two or three sessions, and extend the time between sessions as we progress.
You can book one session at a time or prepay for six sessions, and you'll find pricing here, but you should start by booking a free 30-minute introductory conversation to discuss what may suit you best.
A practical, evidence-based approach
Health advice can be confusing and often contradictory. My approach combines credible health research with an understanding of psychology, behaviour change, and the realities of everyday life.
I won’t expect perfection, impose a rigid lifestyle, or ask you to overhaul everything overnight. Instead, we’ll look for meaningful changes that are right for you, achievable in your circumstances, and sustainable.
It’s worth stating that health coaching complements appropriate medical care; it does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis or treatment. Where necessary, I will encourage you to discuss concerns or planned changes with your GP or another healthcare professional.
Why work with me?
I’m Mark Quirk, a healthspan coach with a master’s degree in applied psychology, qualifications in lifestyle medicine, nutrition, and health coaching, and extensive experience helping people make meaningful changes to their health and wellbeing.
Alongside my private coaching work, I work in NHS primary care and deliver one-to-one and group programmes covering weight management, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular health, persistent pain, and behaviour change.
This combination of health knowledge, psychology, and practical coaching shapes my approach: informed by credible evidence, but always grounded in the realities of your life.
“After being told I was prediabetic, I was offered the chance to meet coach Mark Quirk. With his help and advice on diet and exercise over six meetings I managed to lose over 30 pounds in weight, taking me out of the obesity bracket and lowering my blood sugar levels to below prediabetic readings.”

You don’t need to know exactly what needs to change before getting in touch.
The free introductory conversation is an opportunity to tell me what is happening, discuss what you would like to improve and find out whether one-to-one healthspan coaching feels like the right next step.
